🍰 Victoria Sponge Cake


 Ingredients:

  • 200g sugar

  • 200g butter (softened)

  • 4 eggs

  • 200g self-raising flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 2 tablespoons milk

  • Jam (strawberry or raspberry)

  • Whipped cream or buttercream (for filling)


Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven:
    Heat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease two round cake tins.

  2. Mix batter:
    In a bowl, beat sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
    Add eggs one by one, then mix in flour, baking powder, and milk.

  3. Bake:
    Divide the mixture between the two tins.
    Bake for about 20–25 minutes, until golden and springy to touch.
    Let cool completely.

  4. Assemble:
    Spread jam and cream between the two cakes.
    Dust with powdered sugar on top.


Serve:
Cut into slices and enjoy with a cup of tea — just like the British do! 🇬🇧☕
